Partial Amendment of Specifications And Standards for Foods, Food additives, etc.

The Consumers Affairs Agency (CAA) has published on 19 February 2026 (under CAA Notification No. 7 of 2025) a partial amendment of Specifications and Standards for Foods, Food additives etc. (Act No. 370 of 1959) to revise the maximum residue limits (MRL) of Isotianil, Clofentezine, Validamycin and Broflanilide based on Article 13, Paragraph 1 of the Food Sanitation Act (Act No. 233 of 1947).
Additionaly, Acetylcysteine (feed additive) has been added to the list of Substances Specified By The Minister Of Health, Labour And Welfare As Substances That Are Clearly Not Harmful To Human Health Pursuant To The Provision Of Article 13(3) Of The Food Sanitation Act (MHLW Notification No. 498 of 2005)(through the Notification of Partial Amendment of Substances Specified By The Minister Of Health, Labour And Welfare As Substances That Are Clearly Not Harmful To Human Health Pursuant To The Provision Of Article 13(3) Of The Food Sanitation Act (MHLW Notification No. 498 of 2005) (Cabinet Office Notification No. 8 of 2026))

Main revisions:
1) Maximum Residue Limits (MRL)
Partial amendments have been made for the MRLs of Isotianil, Clofentezine, Validamycin and Broflanilide.
2) Addition of Acetylcysteine to the list of Substances Specified By The Minister Of Health, Labour And Welfare As Substances That Are Clearly Not Harmful To Human Health Pursuant To The Provision Of Article 13(3) Of The Food Sanitation Act (MHLW Notification No. 498 of 2005)
Applicable Date:
Amendments 1) shall apply from the date of publication. However, for the below food listed for each agricultural chemical etc., existing standards can still be used within one year from the announcement of this notification.
Amendment 2) shall apply from the date of publication.
