The Ministry of Food & Drug Safety (MFDS) has announced proposed revisions to the "Food Standards and Specification" to amend and establish new Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for 75 agricultural chemicals such as Deltamethrin and 2 veterinary drugs such as Fluralaner.
○ This time’s revision aims to reinforce food safety and the new MRLs and analytical methods established for the newly registered and approved pesticide and veterinary drugs to bring safe food to the citizens of South Korea.
Main contents of amendment
▲ Establishment and revision of MRLs for 75 agricultural chemicals such as Bicyclopyrone.
▲ Establishment of MRL of Fluralaner, a pesticide in chicken and eggs.
▲ Establishment of MRL of Ceftiofur, antimicrobial in fishes.
The MFDS said it will continue to improve food safety and strive to eliminate unnecessary regulations that are not related to safety. Any comments on the amendment can be submitted to the MFDS by June 25, 2018.
