Partial Revision of The Specifications and Standards of Foods, Food additives etc., (MHLW Notification no. 361) was promulgated on Dec 25, 2017.
Outline Of Revision
Based on the provisions of Article 11 paragraph 1 of the Food Sanitation Act (Act No. 233 of 1947)(hereinafter referred to as "the Act"), Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for Isoxathion, Oxytetracycline, Glyphosate, Diethylstilbestrol, Cyclaniliprole, Sulfoxaflor, Nitenpyram, Paclobutrazol, Fenpyrazamine, Flutolanil and Boscalid have been established.
Based on the provisions of Article 11, paragraph 1 of the Act, the analytical method for Diethylstilbestrol which is specified as a component of agricultural chemicals etc. considered "not detected" in food has been revised.
Effective Date
This announcement shall be effective from the day of promulgation. However, for the analytical method of Diethylstilbestrol, the existing MRLs can still be followed within 6 months from the date of promulgation. For the food listed in the below table for each agricultural chemical etc, the existing MRLs can still be applicable.
