Proposed Revision of MRLs for 10 Agricultural Chemicals

On 27 Sep, 2017, last Wednesday, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) announced proposed revisions and newly set (maximum residue limits, “MRLs”) for the following (10) substances:

Pesticides: Cadusafos, Clethodim, Chlorantraniliprole, Desmedipham, Tricyclazole, Pyrifluquinazon, Fluopicolide, Procymidone
Pesticides and Veterinary drugs: Abamectin
Veterinary drugs and feed additives: Flavophospholipol
Back ground information:
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) introduced the "Positive List System for Agricultural Chemical Residues in Foods" on May 29, 2006, for agricultural chemical residues (including pesticides, feed additives, and veterinary drugs). All foods distributed in the Japan are subject to this system.
It has been vested with the authority to establish residue limits (maximum residue limits, “MRLs”) for pesticides, feed additives, and veterinary drugs that may remain in foods according to the Food Sanitation Act (hereafter referred to as "the act").
Any food for which standards are stipulated in Article 11, Paragraph 1 of the act is not permitted to be marketed in Japan unless it complies with the established standards.
